PROFILE: L.A. Lunch’er “Rebekah”

As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week it’s Rebekah, a teacher who hates tomatoes but loves a good croque madame.

Name: Rebekah

Age: 35

Occupation: Teacher

Where in L.A. do you Work?: LAUSD, Griffith Middle School in East LA

Favorite Kind of Food: Mac & Cheese, especially when it’s done in a creative way

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Raw tomatoes

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: King Taco (4504 East 3rd Street). Love those tacos, especially carne asada

The “goto” lunch place you and your co-workers eat at too often? Cook’s Tortas (1944 S Atlantic Blvd) in Monterey Park

The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? We only get a half hour lunch, so can’t go too far. But when I was on summer break, I drove to ink.sack (8360 Melrose Avenue) a bunch & that takes me 20 to 30 min.

Dream job location (anywhere in the world), purely for lunch purposes, and why? Paris, would love to sit in the cafes. My favorite: croque madame!

Anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Where do you like to go for a fancy lunch near East L.A., say for a birthday. There don’t seem to be many choices.

Got a recommendation for Rebekah? Put it in the comments. And, as always, if you want to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me- zach@midtownlunch.com.
