PROFILE: L.A. Lunch’er “Brandon”

As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week it’s Brandon, a new media talent agent in WeHo looking for some good Italian rice balls.

Name: Brandon

Age: 27

Occupation: New Media Talent Agent

Where in L.A. do you Work?: Abrams Artists Agency, Sunset Strip

Favorite Kind of Food: TACOS

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Not necessarily a food, but I HATE, no, ABHOR sauces: mustard, mayonaise, relish, and ketchup (the most foul thing on Earth).

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: Bento Box B w/ Grilled Black Cod at Ajisai (809 Palm Ave), Ramen at Take Sushi (8866 W Sunset Blvd), Chicken Shawarma at Pi on Sunset (8828 Sunset Blvd), Slice of Pizza at Frankie & Johnnie’s (8947 W Sunset Blvd)

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Hamburger Hamlet (9201 W Sunset Blvd). It’s across the street and relatively easy to get in and out.

The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? I actually prefer to walk. I have a rule in Silver Lake to walk if it’s within 2 miles and I try to do the same at work. The walk to Ajisai is a good one, up and down some steep West Hollywood hills. If I have a lunch with someone who works/lives on the westside, I’ll suggest Mizu 212 in Century City (2000 Sawtelle Blvd) as a half way point for some shabu shabu.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Anywhere in Italy. I ate my way up and down that country on a trip in college and I’ve never forgotten it. I’m still trying to find arrancini that are just as good as in Southern Italy. And they take 2-3 hour lunch breaks! The whole country! You can’t beat that…

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers in L.A.? Where can I find real arrancini (fried rice balls with stuffing inside)? Lil’ Doms are good, but still not exactly what I’m looking for.

Got a recommendation for Brandon? Leave them in the comments. And if you’d like to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me-
