In honor of National Wafel Day tomorrow, the Wafels & Dinges truck is gearing up for the annual festivities and crowning of Mr. and Miss Wafel and they want you to be a part of the celebration taking place at Hanover Square. There be free (you guessed it) wafels in exchange for artistic expression, and you can sign up to take part in the contest to crown the winners. You have to do so by 4 p.m. today and full details can be found on their blog. Click through for more information on how to get free food at the event and see what the prize is if you win.

Free Drinks At Hot Clay Oven Monday: Indian fast food spot Hot Clay Oven on Maiden Lane (nr. Gold) is celebrating India's Independence Day on Monday with free tamarind iced tea or a low-fat plain lassi if you buy a meal. If you just want the drink, you can pay $1 for each all day.

After the Frites N Meats truck ran out of frites during its second of a planned five stops yesterday (of which the last three were downtown) to celebrate being back on the road after an accident destroyed their truck, they promised to make it up to us freeloaders. After admitting on their blog last night that the plan was a “bit too ambitious” they announced plans to give away free frites during regular lunch service in the Financial District, Soho and Tribeca later this week. They’ll be on Hudson in Soho for lunch and dinner on Greenwich in Tribeca, and on Water St. Friday (but you may want to check the Twitter Tracker before heading out), with both regular service and free frites.

Bistro Truck’s Free Turkey Burgers Coming Downtown: You may have heard that Bistro Truck and Jennie-O have partnered up to bring us free "themed" turkey burgers this week and we're getting in on the action. The truck will be at Hudson & King tomorrow with a Mulberry St. burger and at Old Slip & Water Thursday with a Brooklyn-style burger. The free food flows from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and I for one am curious what can be added to ground turkey to emulate Brooklyn.

Snapple Promotion Means Free Eddie’s, Souvlaki GR Today: You may or may not drink Snapple, but you might want to pretend to like the stuff today because they're teaming up with a couple of food trucks downtown. Eddie's Pizza Truck is set to have free food and beverage on Hudson St. and Souvlaki GR is doing the same thing at Old Slip. You have from 11 to 1 p.m. to eat for free...you know what to do.

I’m still confused about what Mozilla Firefox has to do with Coolhaus ice cream sandwiches, but whatever, free food on Friday! They’ll be at Grand & Lafayette Crosby from noon to 4 p.m. serving “flavors” like the Beta and Foxy Brown. The truck will be out and about this weekend and then is parking at Madison Square Park on Monday. Consider this your free preview before the L.A. phenomenon finally puts its two trucks on the road here in NYC.

Free French Food Alert!: Thanks to lunch'er Celine for passing along that the Air France Gourmet Food Truck is on Wall St. btw. William & Hanover today giving out free food. Lunch hours are from noon to 2 p.m. and you can also get "dinner" starting at 4:30 (Early bird special!). Today's the last day the truck is in operation, so it's nice they bestowed the honor on the FiDi.
