Most Trucks Are Helping Out Sandy Victims Today: If you're noticing a lack of new school food trucks downtown, that's because the Mayor's Fund for NYC has jumped in to organize them to go to hard hit areas in Staten Island and the Rockaways where food is still scarce. What you can find is the Wafels & Dinges cart at City Hall Park, Tacos Morelos is at Wall & Water, Palenque and Cruisin' Kitchen are at the WFC lot, and Calexico's at Prince & Wooster. Also, word on Twitter is that Burger Burger, Leo's Bagels and Saluggi's in Tribeca are open. Once again, if you see a truck/cart/lunch spot open let us know in the comments!

If you’re back at work today it’s likely that a good number of your favorite street food vendors, trucks and (some) brick and mortar lunch spots are too. Many of them lost nearly a week of business, so pick your favorite, go forth and eat. The NYC Food Truck Association is also raising money to help people affected by Sandy, and many trucks are out feeding people in affected areas.

Wafels & Dinges is bringing a little sweetness to those of you downtown who still may not have power, water or access to delicious waffles. Today from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. they’ll be giving out free wafels at their cart in City Hall Park across from the Brooklyn Bridge entrance on Centre St. (as well as at 14th & 3rd Ave. and Astor Place), through a sponsorship by Jet Blue. If you’ve had a tough week, maybe a sugar high is in order.
