Help Out Vendors And Restaurants By Eating Lunch Out Today

If you’re back at work today it’s likely that a good number of your favorite street food vendors, trucks and (some) brick and mortar lunch spots are too. Many of them lost nearly a week of business, so pick your favorite, go forth and eat. The NYC Food Truck Association is also raising money to help people affected by Sandy, and many trucks are out feeding people in affected areas.

My office is still without internet and phone service, so this is just a brief list of what I saw open while walking around the Financial District this morning. On Wall St., Pakiza, the Turkish Coffee Cart and Tacos Morelos were out as well as the MUD coffee truck. Both of the Biryani House carts were there on William (btw. John & Maiden Lane) and at Liberty & Broadway where A-Pou’s Taste Cart and the 99% Vegetarian Food Cart were also in operation, along with a couple of street meat carts. Gyro House truck was at Cedar & Broadway.

As for brick and mortars, all of the chain places on Maiden Lane were closed and still drying out, although, GRK on Fulton St., Friendly Pizza at Nassau & Maiden and Leo’s Bagels at Hanover Sq. are open as was Subway on Maiden and multiple Starbucks. It also sounds like places in Tribeca are creeping back to life including Takahachi Bakery at Murray & Church, Blue Spoon Coffee on Chambers St. (also on William & Platt, cash only). We also hear Adel’s No. 1 Halal is at Maiden & Water since trucks/carts are unable to park on Front St.

The Comme Ci Comme Ca’s at Old Slip & Water, Tribeca Taco’s at Water & John, the WFC lot has Gorilla Cheese, Kimchi Taco and Shorty’s. Crisp is at Hudson & King.

  • I saw Adel’s #1 Halal out this morning, although they had moved up to the corner of Maiden Lane and Water St. Front St is a total mess of construction and trucks, so no food trucks or carts are parked over there.

Dark Horse Tavern on Murray (between Church and Broadway) is open. So is AOA Bar & Grill (on Ave of the Americas) right by Canal Street.

R&R Coffee is also open on Fulton
