PROFILE: Downtown Lunch’er “Drew”

As is customary here on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a different lunch’er and get their recommendations for places to eat in Downtown NYC. This week, we have Drew who often strays up to Greenwich Village for lunch, and needs your help finding a certain kind of sandwich.

Name: Drew

Title: Consumer and lifestyle social media associate

Where you work: Attention at Varick and Charlton

Age: 24

Favorite kinds of food: Italian, Mexican and dessert

Least favorite foods: Anything with goat cheese.

Favorite lunches downtown: The smash at the Meatball Shop (Multiple Locations); chicken burritos at Dos Toros (Multiple Locations); Michigan Sandwich #9 (Turkey, brie, raspberry mustard, green apples) from Grey Dog on Mulberry (btw. Spring & Prince).

The “go-to” lunch place you and your co-workers eat at too often: The Meatball Shop.

Places downtown you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch: Downtown? Energy Kitchen on Nassau (btw. John & Fulton).

Dream job location, purely for lunch purposes, and why: A few blocks north of Attention. It would be great to be able to eat lunch in Washington Square Park on nice days.

Anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch: Downtown readers? Where’s the best grilled cheese in Soho?

OK, who can help Drew out with the grilled cheese question? I have no idea on that one, although I’m betting one of the many cafes in the area serves a good one. And as always, if you would like to be next week’s Profiled Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate), email us at downtown@midtownlunch.com.

Best grilled cheese in your area is the 3 cheese panini at ‘ino. It’s not technically soho, though.

Murray’s Cheese is also in the area and as you’d expect, makes a killer grilled cheese.

Little Muenster does nothing but grilled cheese, and they’re good at it, but they’re pretty far east, near Katz’s.
