The Capital Grille’s Summer Plates

This week I was invited back by The Capital Grille to try out their new summer additions to their $18 plates menu.

I am always so happy when The Capital Grille invites me back to try out their seasonal plates. The “plates” deal is always the same, $18 for an appetizer, entree, and a side dish. Every few months new seasonal menu items are added.  The perfect truffle fries and lobster roll are still on the “plates” menu and as hard as they were to forgo, I wanted to try the new items.

The seasonal soup is  carrot ginger. Besides having  great color (just like like season’s asparagus soup), it was bursting with carrot flavor and just a hint of ginger. I thought the soup would have been chilled, but it was warm though a dollop of sour cream  added coolness and decadence.

The new spring entree is scallops over Israeli couscous (they call it ptitim in Israel). I was served 4 huge very sweet, perfectly cooked scallops.

The lemony couscous had bits of olive, pieces of asparagus, and roasted cherry tomatoes, including a beautiful red and green striped one.

My side was a hot weather appropriate watermelon salad, accompanied by different colored tomatoes, tomatillos, cilantro, red pepper, and feta cheese. A little more feta would have been nice.

A last point, the “plates” menu has a lot of gluten free options! Luxury lunch for everyone!
