Philly Cheese Experiment Ticket Give Away

The Food Experiments is a series of amateur cook-offs that celebrate the home chef that have become well-loved in Brooklyn, NY.  The Experiment is coming to Philly Next Month The Philadelphia Cheese Experiment will be held at the World Cafe Live venue on Sunday June 5th, 2011 from 12-4PM. A portion of the event’s proceeds will go towards The Food Trust, a local charity dedicated to ensuring that everyone has access to affordable, nutritious food. Do you have the balls to compete and show off your cooking skills? Get your tickets ($10 in advance, $15 day of) or sign up to cook here.

Plans For Your Lunch on Monday

Monday marks the 1 year anniversary of one of my favorite sandwiches places- Jake’s. To celebrate they are roasting up a pig for 18 hours and giving out free sandwiches starting at noon.

1st Annual Vendy Awards in Philly!

More exciting event news guys! This is going to be a blast guys! MARK IT DOWN- Saturday, July 9th from 3-7pm, the Vendy Awards come to Philly in the Piazza at Schmidts. The Vendy Awards is a street food cook off event with judges to decide who is their favorite local food vendor and food and drink for everyone. The event has been wildly popular in NY and L.A. and tickets get sold out in a heart beat. But since its the first time in Philly, tickets are at a very low price- $45 for early birds. Proceeds will benefit the Food Trust.

Night Trust Menu is Out

The 2nd Night Trust Market is going down on Thursday, June 9th at 6pm at 39th and Market. The first Night Market on Passyunk was a little crazy, but fun, and I am sure the 2nd one will be even better organized. So far, we have told we can expect: beer from Yards, Victory, Rogue, Troegs and The Blockley Beer Garden plus Duck barbacoa tacos, Locally-made hot dogs, Beef rendang (form Hardena?), Vegetable muffuletta, Smoked kielbasa, Takoyaki (from Maru?), Organic wood-fired pizza, Jerk Chicken, Tacos al pastor, and Balsamic-banana ice cream (Little Baby’s?). This is a pay as you go event, showing up is free!

Boar’s Head Only at N.Y. Deli

N.Y. Deli opened in March next to one of my favorite pizza places- NYPD Pizza. I was thinking/hoping that N.Y. Deli might follow the same style as the pizza place, and serve super awesome NY deli style sandwiches, home made pastrami, etc. (Not that we don’t have great local spots for that) Instead, N.Y. Deli has a different formula- Boar’s Head sandwiches only.

Pretty in Pink: The Soup Edition

Over a year ago, on a warmer day, I discovered how much I enjoyed the gazpacho and fresh sandwiches at Le Bus.  Now that it’s warming up, (on and off) I had a craving for that gazpacho again. But another soup, the color of pepto bismol, tempted me instead. Ok, I realize that doesn’t sound tempting, but it was delicious, I promise!
