PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Cheryl”
Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Cheryl, a marketing manager who loves roast pork and oxtails.
Name: Cheryl
Age: 29
Occupation: Marketing Manager
Where in Midtown do you Work?: Midtown East – 46th Street and Madison.
Favorite Kind of Food: My goodness – there are just so many. But anything Asian (Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, Chinese), and anything Healthy
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Beans and Peas (I know really random)
Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: Hing Won (on 48th btw. 5+6th) – Beef Tendon with Turnip soup over those big broad noodles (awesome hangover or just need soup day food) & their Roast Pork (just because who can say no to Roast Pork?) Calista Superfoods (on 49th and 2nd) – Turkey Meatloaf Wrap (moist and super juicy), Bison Jalapeño Cheesesteak (ask for extra green hot sauce), and their PB&J smoothie. AND this place is healthy. WHAT? Margon (on 46th btw. 6+7th) – Oxtail
“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Have to say Calista Superfoods – There is a fair amount of Happy Hours that comes with being in Marketing, so we’re trying to balance it out by eating some healthy food during the day, so the extra beers at night sorta negates itself (please don’t burst my bubble and tell me it doesn’t work that way PLEASE). It helps that the staff is nice and they are willing to deliver lunch pretty quickly and call when it is otherwise…
Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? MARGON – hole in the wall, but soo soo good.
If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Japan – Sucker for really good Japanese sushi without all the bells and whistles you usually find in NYC. Fresh fish should just be about the freshness and the flavor of the fish AND not all the sauces or craziness that’s on it. There’s only ONE place in Queens – called Sushi Yasu that measures up to that standard.
Anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Where can I find GOOD flip food in Midtown? All the places I read is in the LES, but is there any in the midtown area?
Got an answer for Cheryl? Put it in the comments. And, as always, if you want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate) email editor@midtownlunch.com.
