Toasted Corn Bread from The Bakeshop on 20th
Although I am enticed on the daily by the petite- sized Bakeshop on 20th and its changing specials board, it took me a while to stop on in. The cafe sells simple breakfast and lunch sandwiches and pastries, along with coffee.
A BLT on a local Philly Muffin was pretty average for $7. While the bacon was good, the lettuce and tomato were not. Don’t expect nooks and crannies with the Philly Muffin- I liked the way it tasted, but it wasn’t like the english muffins we are used to.
Honey butter on toasted corn bread though, was a sexy little snack. Anything sweet and toasted with butter is probably going to win me over.
I had tried a friend’s birthday cake from this place last month and was impressed, so it seems that the sweet fare is the way to go here. I want to try their more desserty/ chocolatey offerings. Any suggestions?
