PROFILE: Philly Luncher “Dan”

As we try to do at Philly Lunch, some Tuesdays we turn over the site to a different lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Philadelphia. This week it’s Dan, a local business owner looking for noodles.

Name: Dan

Age: 29

Occupation: Owner of Philly Phaithful

Where in Philly do you Work?: Northern Liberties

Favorite Kind of Food: Any pork product or west coast oysters, because obviously I’m a terrible Jew.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Cottage cheese. It’s not even close.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Philly: I love the House Special Bahn Mi at QT Vietnamese (and the noodle soup during the winter), the Paesano or Tuna Italiano from Paesano’s, and I’m a sucker for the Gator Gumbo at Beck’s cajun cafe in the Reading Terminal market.

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Our Showroom is right across the street from Honey’s, so I’ve been known to spend some time over there. Fish Tacos, FTW!

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? I’d take a job in the Florida keys to eat fresh mahi tacos, or go back to France and eat baguettes, red wine and some killer cheeses.

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Philly Lunch readers? Where do you go for the best noodles in Chinatown?

Great question! The easy answer is Nan Zhou hand drawn noodles. For something more different, try Taiwanese Zha jiang mian at Empress Garden and Xi’an liang pi or spicy chicken and noodle at Xi’an Sizzling Woks, then check out my NOODLE category.
