I’ve been back to Liberty Convenience, under the Berks El, two straight weeks after not going for a year. No real reason, I just never found myself walking past it. And especially in the cold, I mostly just stick with York-Dauphin, Huntingdon or Girard.

But anyway, I found myself down that way while out for an aimless walk a few weeks ago, and I stopped in for a falafel. Diced salad, hummus and pickles, spicy. It’s still a fantastic falafel ($5.39), with great service and even some better stuff in the market part of the store itself than there was last year.

They still unfortunately haven’t turned that asphalt triangle on the side of their store into a green space / seating area as I believe was promised to EKNA and FNA before they opened, but I’m certainly not gonna complain too much about that. It would definitely be an awesome addition, though, and if something good can be done with the two beautiful old bank buildings across the street (they recently received another respite from threatened demolition), and the just-closed market on the other corner, this block has massive potential.

Anyway. Liberty Convenience falafel – check it out!

And speaking of old favorites I’ve recently gone back to for the first time in a while (it’s good to finally make money again!), Coffee Shop Too on York & Belgrade.

One of the best bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches around. The garlic butter really takes it up a notch. I still haven’t eaten anything other than that sandwich there, though they’ve finally opened the upstairs dining space, so I will definitely be checking them out for dinner soon. Or at least for their hangover breakfast hoagie!

Sometime within the next month or two, definitely…
