Kermit’s Now Delivers (Some Hits and Misses)

The title has two meanings guys, because Kermit’s Bake Shop on Washington Ave started delivery service this week and also also because they delivered a mixed reaction from their products that I tried this time.

Having skipped the pizza to focus on the hot pockets last time, I made sure to try the pizza by the slice. Specifically,  the pepperoni ($3), the Kerminator ($3.25), and the pesto ($3). I really enjoyed the sauce on the pepperoni slice, it had a strong tomato sweetness. They went a little light on the cheese, but the pepperoni was high quality. The Kerminator is fully loaded with caramelized onions, applewood smoked ham, and for cheese, a generous coating of creme fraiche and gruyere. The pesto had a strong vegetal flavor, you would think it was healthy for you or something. I enjoyed the toppings and sauce on each of the pizzas I tried. As for the crusts, which were on the thinner side, they could have been a bit crispier.

The misses came with the desserts. Whereas I absolustely loved the salted caramel brownie the last time I tried Kermit’s, its probably one of the best in town, both the red velvet crumb cake and bread pudding were extremely dry. The red velvet tasted like a no fat version of the cake I love and the bread pudding was like a paper weight. So, I guess its a matter of having to find the hits at this bake shop. Has anyone had some they would like to share?
