Wajoe’s Fully Loaded Bento Box

I walked down Chestnut Street, crossing my fingers that  the new roti spot was open. Unfortunately, construction is still in process and I had to keep walking. I stopped in to try some of Wajoe’s Korean food as a consolation.

A bulgogi bento ($11) came with enough of a variety of snacks to help me forget I didn’t get the rothi I was craving. The bulgogi was modestly seasoned; I didn’t mind that it wasn’t over marinated in sweet Korean BBQ sauce. There were a few semi-gristly looking pieces, but they were edible. A single crispy dumpling sat on some refreshing jop chae glass noodles. The piece of shrimp tempura was slightly less crispy, but nonetheless an enjoyable addition. Also included, a salad consisting mostly of iceberg lettuce and a sweet dressing, perfectly cooked white rice, and spicy, but only mildly fermented kimchee.

The dumpling was my favorite bite and the bulgogi was decent enough, but it was really the fact that I got 7 different elements to enjoy in one sitting that made me most happy.
