Grocery Store + Indian Food At Rice and Spice

I worked up an appetite after a meeting in UCity, so I Yelped around and found a few reviews about an Indian restaurant at the back of the Rice and Spice Grocery store. I walked straight to the back and was given a pen and pad to write down my order.

I got a little carried away with my ordering because I needed to try everything. I ordered a bread, one samosa, a 1/2 sized meat entree, and a 1/2 sized veggie entree.

Paratha, a big flat bread, is one of the many made fresh daily. While looking at my choices, the “mulli paratha” sounded the least familiar to me. I was told it is daikon filled.  I LOVED it. The daikon added a really unique flavor and texture.

The samosa was not my favorite part of the meal. It was too spicy to taste much else. I still prefer the samosa at International Food and Spices. I appreciated the two dipping sauces, a spicy red and sweet brown sauce, though I am not sure what part of the meal they were suppose to accompany.

My chicken tikka masala ($5.50 for the 1/2 size) totally overshadowed my standard sag paneer for the same price. Under the fragrant, addictive masala sauce were blackened pieces of tender chicken. DO consider ordering this when at Rice and Spice.

Also, the snacks in the grocery should not be looked over. I picked up some awesome spicy snacks for later. Why have Cool Ranch Doritos when you can have Green Chutney Rajasthani Style puff things?
