A Difficult Pie Decision at Pitruco Pizza Truck

Pitruco Pizza sells pizza pies from their shiny, mobile wood fired oven equipped truck. Pitruco offers 6 different pizzas ranging from $6.50 to $9. The pies are heated up and presented on a big round cardboard plate or in a box for you. A single pie is enough for a hearty lunch. It was so hard to choose from the tempting descriptions, I got two (there were leftovers, I swear).

The pizzaiolo (pizza maker) recommended the Margarita. The tomato sauce was the star of the Margarita pizza. Especially during winter, when a good tomato is hard to find, it was lovely to taste that tomato freshness. Whereas some crusts are just around for texture, Pitruco’s toasty crust has a noticeably great taste.

Row Home Eats said that Pitruco’s sausage pizza was one of her favorites of all time. That seal of approval, plus the fact that all the ingredients appeal to me- sausage meatballs, caramelized onion, mushrooms, bechamel- made it mandatory to order. It really was a high class pizza, and only $8.50. The bechamel was light handed; which was perfect for adding creaminess without overwhelming the other flavors.  The mushrooms on the other hand, were not subtle and I loved that. Their flavors stood up to the sausage, skating equally powerfully across my taste buds like an performance by an Olympic ice skating duo. A hint of fennel was like the matching sequined costumes, not necessary, but adding flourish and scoring extra points.

Put your co-workers greasy slice to shame with these impressive personal pies.
