“The Boss” Lunch and Prosciutto Draped Pizza at La Fourno

If you find yourself on South Street and you hear happy Italian music, you might be in front of La Fourno. This Italian trattoria has a very reasonably priced menu  with paninis, pizzas, calzones, and some pasta dishes that all fall under $10.

The capricciosa pizza had a lot of my favorite things on it: mozzarella, prosciutto, artichoke, fresh mushrooms, onions & black olives. The think crust could have been a tiny bit crispier, but really anything with a prosciutto blanket is going to be alright in my book. I felt that $10 was a reasonable price for a pizza of this size.

The “boss lunch” special came recommended.  It comes with a pile of fettucini with spinach, garlic, and olive oil and a piece of grilled free range chicken. The pasta was a little overcooked but the chicken was surprisingly flavorful even though it was dressed so simply.

At lunch time, La Fourno was pretty empty.  The service is really courteous here; it is actually easy to forget you are on South Street.A full bar is available. The website has a bunch of specials, so check it out before you go.
