The Always Changing $6 Lunch Special at Chris’s Jazz Cafe

Chris’s Jazz Cafe is most appreciated for their evening live jazz performances. They won Best Jazz Club in 07. While attending a happy hour there, I learned they also serve lunch and dinner. The lunch menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, and wraps all under $10 dollars and a handful of over $10 entrees. Whats more exciting is the daily lunch special: a different meal every day with a side (usually fries) and a soda for only $6.

When I visited, the daily special was a shrimp po boy. It was pretty awesome to get a po boy sandwich, plus a pile of fries, and a soda for only $6. Especially in a pretty nice setting. While it was far from the best shrimp po boy I have eaten, it tasted good and the price was right.

Other lunch items on the menu, like this grilled buffalo chicken wrap are also satisfying. They also have customizable triple decker clubs and burgers. The fig and prosciutto salad also sounds really good. Basically, you are guaranteed to find something on the menu that you like.

Service was attentive but a bit slow, so be prepared to wait for your food. You can’t beat the $6 lunch. Check the website or Twitter account (@chrisjazzcafe) to find out if the daily special tempts you.

  • A group of my friends accidentally wandered in here one day during a bar crawl. We definitely were not the crowd they were used to (especially in our state). But they were still very friendly in there and when my buddy from New Orleans saw that Chris’s served Crawfish, he got crazy excited. They brought out a bunch of them for us to eat while we drank some beers there. They were smothered in cajun spices and were deliciously messy. They were saying they are the only place in Philly where you can get Crawfish.
