PROFILE: L.A. Lunch’er “Cristina”
As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week its Cristina, a publicist who has a question about ham.
Name: Cristina
Age: 31
Occupation: Owner of NoiseNY PR
Where in L.A. do you Work?: Our office is located in Los Feliz
Favorite Kind of Food: Italian
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Chinese
Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: Il Capriccio (1757 N Vermont Ave) – the turkey panini with pesto spread (fresh basil, pine nuts, olive oil, garlic) is bellissimo. Their pasta e fagioli soup is amazing if you come on Wednesday it’s their green day special. And if you take the bus, walk, ride your bike, or bring recyclables, you get 10-15% off your meal
“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Il Capriccio (ha) but sometimes i will do an early lunch and run to Figaro Cafe (1802 N Vermont Ave) to get their homemade chocolate croissants get 2 that will fill you up. But for some amazing homemade Mexican burritos, which I was introduced to when I moved here from NY, Tacos Villa Corona in Altwater Village (3185 Glendale Blvd). It’s about the size of my old apartment in NY, but their potato lunch burrito is orgasmic. You can’t alter the menu what you see is what you get. Soooo good
The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? I’m a New Yorker so I walk everywhere even in LA. But if we are considering a subway ride then a walk, there’s a great downtown English pub/restaurant called Royal Claytons that makes great fish and chips (I think they are currently closed though and moving locations downtown somewhere.) Also Ralph’s Market on W 9th street makes some really good sandwiches running 10-15 bucks..
If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? move to italy open up my own tiny restaurant drink great wine eat amazing cheese and italian food all day long
Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers in L.A.? Hmmm what’s the best way to cook a Ham?
Don’t like Chinese food? Don’t even know where to start with that… Anyway, got a ham recipe for Cristina? Put it in the comments. And as always if you want to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me- zach@midtownlunch.com.
