PROFILE: L.A. Lunch’er “Monique”
As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week it’s Monique, a noodle loving Santa Monica sales rep at Williams Sonoma.
Name: Monique
Age: 25
Occupation: Sales
Where in L.A. do you Work?: Williams Sonoma Santa Monica
Favorite Kind of Food: I adore noodles. I usually do not turn down anything in the noodle family. Overall its noodles and grilled foods.
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Food made without any love or purpose.
Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: R & D kitchen (1323 Montana Avenue Santa Monica, CA 90403) I get the burger, its classic, clean and cooked to perfection. Blue Plate (1415 Montana Ave Santa Monica CA 90403) My go to spot for a nice BLT and sweet potato fries. Mongols (1064 Gayley Ave Los Angeles CA 90024) Lots of noodles and all under $10 built any way you want it, what more can a noodle lover ask for?
The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? I’ve driven over 15 miles during my college days (LMU) to get some Hainan chicken and rice at Savoy Kitchen in Alhambra (138 E. Valley Blvd Alhambra, 91801) They also have some amazing daily specials which sometimes are noodles.
Dream job location (anywhere in the world), purely for lunch purposes, and why? NYC simply because its easy to kill a lunch fix just by walking down the street.
Anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? Where in Santa Monica can I find a good ramen?
Obviously you know about Santouka in West L.A…. but have you been to Wakasan for lunch yet? It’s in Westwood, but if you’re willing to go to Mongols for lunch you should have no problem hitting up this place. Got another suggestion for Monique, put it in the comments. And, as always, if you want to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me- zach@midtownlunch.com.
