Hand Shaved Noodles and Tuna Dumplings at UCity’s Chattime

In Univiersity City,  up on a commerical strip that includes a pizza place, frozen yogurt shot, and a Wawa sits Chattime, a hand drawn noodle and sushi restaurant.  Usually these two types of meals are not found alongside each other.  But I was brave and craving something slurpy,  so I made my way in.  Inside, lunch service was bustling and service was extremely efficient. It had more seating than I anticipated.

I decided to indulge myself with a tuna dumpling appetizer.  Raw tuna is configured into the shape of a flower bud and then stuffed with lobster salad. At $10 for 2 of them, it better be outstanding and it was. Silky, fresh tuna and chopped lobster with one or two larger sized lobster pieces- this is a quick and easy way to treat yo self. They are also more filling than they appear.

I also ordered the short rib hand shaved noodle soup. Sometimes hot soup on a hot day is acceptable, after all, they do it in Asia. The short ribs were decent one I removed some fat from them. The rich beef broth, flecked with cilantro and wide slippery noodles exceeded expectation.

Lunch specials include $10 bento boxes and $9 maki rolls but I am really content with my lunch choices.

  • How much for the soup?

  • $8.50 I believe. So A bit more than chinatown prices. Huge bowl though.

  • I like my soup like i like my women … hot, rich, slippery, fatty and decadent

  • so Rebel Wilson, huh?

    • Believe this calls for a song, if only to alleviate the pain of lack of content on the “midtown” side. No complaints here, Jamie puts out
