Petit Roti, A French Cafe without the Hate Crimes
A French rotisserie opened this winter, bringing the relaxing French cafe experience to Washington Square West without any of the rampant, disgusting, violent anti Semitism that you’d find in France. How nice.
Petit Roti specialized in chicken; chicken sandwiches and whole roasted chicken. Takeout is easy, but its also nice to relax at a cute table and people watch out the window facing 11th street.
Even though chicken is the thing here, I found myself ordering the “heirloom” pork au jus instead of any of the naturally raised Amish chicken. The pork sandwich came as slices on a baguette with spicy mustard ($8.50). It had a fresh taste, didn’t really have a whole lot of jus to it. And probably could have used a little something extra- cheese, caramelized onions, or peppers are all extra. Paying over $10 for this sandwich with some cheese on it doesn’t seem like the best value.
I liked relaxing in the space and didn’t mind my sandwich, but I can’t say I would go out of my way for it. Perhaps that Amish grown chicken is transcendental enough to justify the price. Have you tried this chicken?

Yep, I live right across the street from it and tried it the day they opened. Chicken was good, but I agree with you on 1) lack of adornments 2) price. With no greens / onions / nothing, $9-10 is super pricey. Even moreso is that a whole chicken is $20 for takeou?? That’s ridiculous.
