19 Degrees Cafe fills a much needed beer to go and sandwich gap in the immediate neighborhood of the West side of Christian Street. They use Boar’s Head deli meat here. Their sandwiches are consistent and customizable, plus the beer selection is actually pretty solid.

The “Jewish hoagies” ($7) comes with swiss, roast beef, corned beef, and turkey. To make it more to this Jew’s liking, I subbed the roast beef for salami. 19 Degrees was more than willing to allow any substitutions. I also got lettuce and tomato added to this large and neatly wrapped sandwich. The bread was just ok, I have had better luck with the paninis here and would suggest a build your own panini as the best way to go. A corned beef, salami, swiss and tomato panini could be pretty tasty. The staff aims to please, so you can make it happen if you find yourself in the neighborhood.
