Cafe Pendawa Lima Takes Care of Your Indonesian Snack Needs

Cafe Pendawa Lima is a little intimidating; the few barred windows do not allow you to peak inside to know what you are getting yourself in to. Its ok though, you can do it! I’ll help get you acclimated. And its ok to ask questions once inside.

When you first walk in you will see the register on one side, a fridge with beverages on the other, and a rack of fried things in the middle. As you continue walking you see a refrigerated section with premade meals to go from Indonesia Restaurant. These meals typically include rice or noodles and some vegetables and a protien. They average about $5 and are a nice idea for a fast, reheatable lunch.

I picked up a Nasi Goreng flavored ramen, a bag of Tic Tac snack (75 cents), which turned out to be little popped white balls flavored with garlic and msg that I liked very much.

I also picked a savory fried square (75 cents) with the help of one of the employees. It contained egg, chicken, and scallions inside and reheated up nicely with a quick fry back at home. I guess its a little unsettling that many of the fried goods, including the one I picked, are kind of hanging out uncovered in the middle of a grocery store. I guess I am just a risk taker.
