PROFILE: L.A. Lunch’er “Tracy”

As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week its Tracy, a USC Student who works for DishDashLA, the website behind the big Food Truck event for charity going on at USC’s Greek Row (28th Street btw. Fig and Hoover) this Friday from 3-9pm featuring the Dim Sum Truck, Frysmith and more.

Name: Tracy

Age: 21

Occupation: Student & Entrepreneur

Where in L.A. do you Work?: DishDashLA.com, located in Downtown LA near USC

Favorite Kind of Food: Mediterranean.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Tough one, I love it all! Maybe olives…

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: Mercado La Paloma (3655 South Grand Ave.) — the hidden gem near the 110 Fwy on-ramp by Exposition. I really enjoy Chichen Itza’s Brazo de Reina tamales with pumpkin seeds and its citrusy tomato sauce!

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Lemonade at USC campus. Go-to meeting spot.

The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? Half a mile to Jacks N Joe (2498 S Figueroa St) down Figueroa. Incredible new breakfast all day spot.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? At this point, San Francisco. It’s where the tech and foodie worlds combine.

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers in L.A.? What’s missing from Yelp or any restaurant-search website that you’d like to see?

Got an answer for Tracy? Put it in the comments. And as always if you want to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me- zach@midtownlunch.com.

One thing Yelp is missing is the option for users to reply/post to other user’s reviews. But then again, it might start the kind of dirty, nasty flame ups that you see all over youtube and imdb…
