PROFILE: Midtown Lunch’er “Cristine”

As is customary on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a random reader to get their recommendations for the best spots to lunch near their work. This week it’s Christine, a designer who hates L.A. bagels and doesn’t mind walking a few blocks for food trucks.

Name: Cristine

Age: 30

Occupation: Designer

Where in L.A. do you Work?: Montalba Architects, Inc. in Santa Monica, near Cloverfield and Olympic

Favorite Kind of Food: Japanese, all things Italian, especially pizza, homemade Mexican

Least Favorite Kind of Food: L.A. Bagels

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch: The spinach burrito at Tacos Por Favor (1406 Olympic Blvd), the meatball sandwich at Bay Cities (1517 Lincoln Blvd), the cochinita pibil two taco plate at Frida Tacos in the Brentwood Country Mart (225 26th Street), the salad pizza from Abbott’s Pizza (1811 Pico Blvd)

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? Sadly, Ralph’s.

The farthest place you’ll drive for lunch on a normal day? Drive to Sawtelle for Japanese, 2 1/2 miles. Farthest walk: lunch truck row behind MTV (on Pennsylvania btw. 26th and Stewart). A few blocks.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Tokyo. Between the markets, the street food, and food malls, that city has fast, inexpensive lunch covered.

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers in L.A.? Is there anywhere reliably fast and inexpensive to actually sit down, unwind, and eat lunch near my office (preferably with servers and air conditioning)?

Got a recommendation for Christine? Put it in the comments. And if you’d like to be next week’s Profiled: L.A. Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d want to nominate), email me- zach@midtownlunch.com.
