PROFILE: Downtown Lunch’er “Kenny”
As is customary here on Midtown Lunch, every Tuesday we’ll profile a different lunch’er and get their recommendations for places to eat in Downtown NYC. This week, we have Kenny who is a new reader to ML: Downtown but has some solid lunches in Tribeca with a Chinatown staple thrown in.
Name: Kenny Kane
Occupation: VP of operations at I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation
Where you work: Worth & Church streets
Age: 24
Favorite Kinds of Food: Chinese, Italian, deli and diner food
Least Favorite Foods: Sushi and fish
Favorite Lunches Downtown: Chicken and broccoli at Wo Hop on Mott (btw. Mosco & Chatham Sq.); the #12 Autumn Combo at Lenny’s (Multiple Locations); the pot pie at Square Diner on Leonard (at W. Broadway); grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella and lettuce at Landmarc on W. Broadway (btw. Leonard & Worth); cheeseburger and green salad at Edward’s on W. Broadway (btw. Thomas & Duane).
The “go-to” lunch place you and your co-workers eat at too often: Square Diner
Places downtown you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch: Downtown: None so far.
Dream job location, purely for lunch purposes, and why: Mott St. so I could eat at Wo Hop more often!
Anything you’d like to ask the downtown Midtown Lunch readers?: What’s your favorite secret lunch spot?
At the risk of ruining my street cred, one of my “secret” lunch spots is going to the Whole Foods buffet in the summer and loading up on ceviche. It’s not too heavy so it’s a pretty good deal! Where do you all go that you care to share with Kenny (and Downtown Lunch’ers). And as always, if you would like to be next week’s Profiled Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate), email us at downtown@midtownlunch.com.

Given that he said that he doesn’t like “sushi and fish,” (seems like overkill to mention fish twice), ceviche is probably low on Kenny’s list of foods that he wants to eat. I, however, very much appreciate the suggestion.
