Cafe 12 is Selling Sandwiches with your Coffee, Go FIGure which one I enjoyed

A little while back the Gayborhood coffee shop Brew-ha-ha turned into Cafe 12. While the drink menu looks about the same, (expensive hot coffee drinks, check! expensive cold coffee drinks, check!) a list of sandwiches was added. That is surely  an improvement. Each of the six sandwiches are $7.25 and are put together to order.

Oh yes, I did… IHOP’s Chicken and Waffles

I have always overlooked IHOP for several reasons: my late night go to meal is always 13th St Pizza rather than hashbrowns, I am more of a dinner and lunch person rather than breakfast, and I can’t bring myself to frequent chain restaurants when great local spots are plentiful. But I was singing a different tune when I walked by and saw the sign advertising a Chicken and Waffles as a limited time offering.  I had to do it.

Classy Vietnamese Apparently Comes at Very Small Price

I am totally jealous of what Morgan is reporting on today, a gorgeous Vietnamese lunch from Le Viet.

I’d been seeing the sign for the $5 lunch special outside Le Viet up until the day before I finally got to try it out. On the day I showed up, the placard had been removed but I wasn’t going to let that deter me. Luckily for me and my friend, the regular menu includes all the special $5 items and several others well within the Midtown Lunch price range.

The New Falafels on the Block: Zaffron vs Falafel Bar

Luncher Mary just sent me a thorough run down of her experiences at the recently opened Falafel Bar at 1513 Chestnut and  Zaffron Mediterranean Grill and Hummus Bar in the Liberty Place food court.

“Both are reasonably priced and will make up your order as a wrap, salad or platter.  FB will also make up your sandwich in a pita or baguette, and also offers some other panini sandwiches.  FB is almost entirely vegetarian, except that they offer tuna in a panini or salad.  Zaffron, on the other hand, offers chicken, steak and shawarma (gyro) options as well as falafel and grilled vegetables.  They also, as their name implies, offer hummus that you can jazz up with any of a number of toppings such as feta cheese, Kalamata olives and/or roasted peppers.”

Click through for the rest of her helpful report and who she thought was the winner.
