Lunches Philly Needs from the South: New Orleans

So I have snuck away to our slightly warmer, southern States and the eating here is not letting me down. I clearly love Philly lunching and am proud of the variety our city has to offer, but I can’t help being jealous of a few southern specialties. Here is a run down of what I have been drooling over in New Orleans .

Back to Beck’s for some Whiskey in my Dessert

It had been about 8 months since my last visit to Beck’s Cajun in Reading Terminal to try the po’boy and a friend had pointed out that I missed one of their best dishes- the bread pudding. I had to return to try it, plus some other snacks I didn’t get to the first time. Some might criticize the authenticity of Beck’s, having never been to New Orleans I am not one of them. But no critic can hate on the bread pudding. My friend was correct in pointing out my omission, this dessert is not to be missed.

Get Your Oyster Po Boy On at Beck’s in Reading Terminal

Beck’s Cajun Café opened inside Reading Terminal a few months ago serving as their main attraction… po boy sandwiches! Though Beck’s has so many great choices (gumbo! jambalaya! beignets!), it was all about the oyster po boy for me this trip. I came ready to indulge.
