Overstuffed Buffalo Chicken Wraps at Wrap Shack

I was never really sure what Wrap Shack’s deal was. They like to advertise Long Island iced tea pitchers and have a full bar. But they also have about a million different kinds of affordable wraps plus outdoor seating close to Rittenhouse Square.  It was time to shack it out.

King Vasilios Club, The BLT Cheesesteak from Tony’s

I think I mentioned once or twice over here, sometimes I want a sandwich (or other handheld food) that borderline grosses me out.

See, The Stockyard, this mozzerella stick topped burger, or this hotdog stuffed, pastrami topped knish.

So while looking at menus of diners in the area, I saw that Tony’s on 21st by Ranstead has a doozy. The “King Vasilios Triple Decker Club” is a cheesesteak along with all the ingredients for a BLT. The name makes no sense to me; there is nothing Greek about a cheesesteak or a BLT. Perhaps some sort of Tony’s inside joke.

Weekday Brunch at Ants Pants Cafe

I get around. Yesterday, I recommended Southern Inspired bourbon house The Twisted Tail, located about as east as you can go off of South Street. Today, I am on the other end of South Street,  at Ants Pants Cafe, whose inspiration is also Southern in a sense.  This spot has been bringing the Australian cafe experience to Grad Hospital since 2004. Though they recently started dinner service, Ants Pants has been more of a brunch place, serving eggs in various forms 7 days a week.

SoWe says I can have Pork for Lunch & Dessert

Sowe is a lovable neighborhood restaurant in Graduate Hospital. It is built for all occasions and cravings, they have lunch, brunch, dinner, happy hour, meat, vegan food, outdoor seating, and ice cream for dogs. Earlier this month, the chef updated the menu. I stopped for a leisurely lunch in the sun.

Bowls of Bacon and Unauthentically Great Cheesesteaks at Milkboy

My lunch at Fuel on Monday left me in desperate need of some calories. Pretty much any one of the menu items at Milkboy, the 3 month old coffee shop/bar/ music venue/restaurant, has as many calories as the entire menu at Fuel.  I deserved it.

Temple Gets Comfort Food from the Vernalicious Truck (Including Griddled Mac & Cheese Topped With Pulled Pork)

The row of trucks along Montgomery Street on Temple Campus is  home to at least half a dozen trucks that specialize in things like chicken cheesesteaks. The recent addition of the Vernalicious truck brings instead comfort foods and  not a cheesesteak in sight. Verna, a former optician, and her boyfriend Dave are the friendly couple behind the truck, and they have a good sense of what the people want.  One important thing to know before you go over: whether or not they can even bring their truck out on a particular day and what foods they have to offer completely depends on their food suppliers, whose schedule isn’t completely finalized yet. So be sure to check on Twitter or Facebook to see if they will be out before heading over.
