Get the Steak at Agno
The folks from Pure Fare brought another concept to Center City last May. Like Pure Fare, the food is fast and healthy. At Agno, the set up is creating your own bowl up at the counter and wait just a few minutes while its all put together. Choose from a base of spinach, black rice, or a wrap. Bowls come with a protein, 3 toppings, and a sauce. The price will be based on your protein, plus any extra topping or sauces.
A lemonade and my bowl, packed to go.
I chose the steak over black rice bowl with pickled beets, white beans/parm/spinach, and feta, with a harissa sauce. I really enjoyed the steak. The menu says it is grilled, but it tasted more like it was braised, very tender. While I could have used a little more of it, I felt that Agno was generous with the other topping portions. There was enough feta to make my bowl a lot less healthy, which is fine by me. The cheesy, bean and spinach scoop added even more protein so I ended up being pretty full. As a warning, the harissa is crazy spicy.
I was a little skeptical about Agno; I knew the bowl would be close to $10 and I was concerned about the value. The quality of the steak and the variety and amount of toppings changed my mind. I guess that makes me… Agno-stic? No, that doesn’t really work here. I gave it a shot though.
THE + (What somebody who likes this place would say)
- Fast, healthy, and vegan friendly
- Great steak and solid toppings
THE – (What somebody who doesn’t like this place would say)
- More meat needed
