Kortako Starts Serving Us Korean Fusion Food Today

I know many of you have been waiting for the opening of  Bon Chon on John spawn, Kortako, on Nassau St. (btw. John & Fulton) which was pushed back due to Department of Health inspection delays. When I walked past on Friday there was an unexpected line out the door, and it turned out they were giving away free food during a soft opening (and you guys can apparently sniff out free food!). I grabbed a menu and confirmed that they were opening today at 11 a.m. but didn’t have time to stand in the growing line. I’ll give you a full report later this week, but you can take a look at the menu after the jump.

The menu isn’t up online, so this is a general overview. It’s an assembly line-style place so you pick a carb, then a protein, supplements, and a sauce. If you’re an indecisive person it’s maybe best to study the options before getting in line.

Carbs: Flour taco, corn taco, burrito, white rice, brown rice, kimchi fried rice, sandwich, rice vermicelli noodle.

Protein: Bulgogi ($8.59), skirt steak ($8.59), spicy pork ($7.59), chicken ($7.29), spicy chicken ($7.29), sweet soy tofu ($6.99)

Supplements: Spicy coleslaw, sesame ginger slaw, lettuce, romaine, onions and peppers, seared kimchi, tomato salsa, corn salad, pickled jalapeno, mozzarella or cheddar.

They have some pre-set combos on the menu that have some interesting ingredients, including a burrito with something called bulgogi mayo. Also, there will be a weekly lottery where you can win a $50 coupon for Bon Chon on John. If any of you happen to eat here today, let us know how your food was in the comments.
