Pizza snobs, you have permission to stop reading now. After all, there’s no DiFara’s, Grimaldi’s or Motorino in Midtown. Hell, there’s not even a Lombardi’s. But not eating pizza for lunch isn’t really an option for any self respecting New Yorker. So what do we do? We settle, of course! Some of us, more than others (depending on where you go, and how much you spend.) Here are the nominees for the best our favorite pizza places in Midtown:

A little over three years ago Esca chef (and Profiled Midtown Lunch’er) Dave Pasternack said there’s no such thing as cheap seafood… but with a $10 price limit we don’t really have the luxury of agreeing with him. Lucky for us there are actually some great seafood dishes available for lunch in Midtown! They might not be Esca quality, but they are still some of our faves. Here are the nominees for best seafood dishes in Midtown:

Sophie’s Cuban has played second fiddle to Margon for all three years of the Midtown Lunch Reader’s Poll. So, what did they do this year? Take the fight directly to the king, that’s what- opening a new location on 45th btw. 5+6th. Will that be enough to claim victory? Or will Margon come out on top for a fourth year in a row? Here are the nominees for best Latin food in Midtown:

Is this the year that Hing Won gets dethroned as the defacto steam table Chinese food spot in Midtown?  Or will they continue their roast pig fueled reign, impaling the competition on their sharp crispy bits of pork fat?  Regardless of who wins, we can all celebrate the fact that all of the old school Chinese food steam table joints made it through another year!  (We’re looking at you Yips.)  Here are the nominees for the best Chinese fast food in Midtown:

Is it our imagination or does the coffee in Midtown just get better and better every year? Just a year and half ago, Zach was flipping out about Iced Capp’s from Tim Horton’s (amateur), and now you can get Stumptown from a truck. What a world, what a world. Here are the nominees for best coffee in Midtown:

It’s no secret that when Zach started Midtown Lunch he purposefully extended the southern boundaries of Midtown an extra two blocks to 32nd Street so that he could justify eating in Koreatown (the man loves Korean food!)  Since then Korean food has migrated north, and is now accessible even for those who can’t make it down to 32nd and back to their office in under an hour.  Woorjip has dominated this category every year since we started doing  the reader’s poll.  But Bapcha and Bann Next Door came on strong in 2010.  Could this be the year that Woorjip finally gets unseated? Not much has changed in the world of Midtown Indian food this year (unless you include Grill 44 ditching their Middle Eastern food and becoming 44 Curry House.) Our fast food Indian category has been dominated by the Biryani Cart for two years straight, so to give the other guys a chance (and find the best place for Indian food other than biryani and kati rolls) we decided to change things up this year. Here are the nominees for best Indian steam table in Midtown:

Next to street meat nothing says Midtown Lunch more than falafel, a notion solidified by the fact that the second week of ML’s existence was dubbed “Falafel Week”. A few of those places are still around over 4 years later, but with the arrival of Maoz and Crisp they couldn’t take home the top prize. Will this year be any different? Here are the nominees for best falafel in Midtown:

Considering how great a bagel town New York City is it’s kind of shocking how terrible the bagel selection is in Midtown.  We did, however, get a few new options this year to go along with a couple of mainstays.  Here are the nominees for Best Bagel in Midtown:
