Cinnamon Snail Opens Their Season Today in the Flatiron; Will Be in Midtown Later This Week

Spring is officially here, which means that the Cinnamon Snail is now back on the road for their first full season in New York. The Snail only got their permits in order at the very end of 2011, but they’ve already had successful lunches in both midtown and downtown. They spent their last lunch of the season in the Flatiron and they’ll be picking up where they left off in the Flatiron today with plans to hit both Midtown East and Midtown West later this week.

I’ve enjoyed the Cinnamon Snail’s food at the Vendy’s, but it wasn’t until recently that I got the chance to visit the truck on the streets. Their doughnuts ($2) didn’t disappoint. I especially liked the Strawberry Glazed ones. Not too sweet and packed with strawberry flavor. The monster sized Cinnamon snails aka cinnamon buns ($3) were packed with cinnamony goodness. While I could have kept gorging myself on their bake goods, I did work my way to their savory foods trying their special of the day, a curried coconut, potato and lentil soup–warm, flavorful and filling this was a good gateway vegan dish for Lunch’rs willing to give vegan a shot, but not quite ready for the tofu/tempeh/seitan train.

They’re planned schedule for the week is to be open 9:00am-3:00pm in the following locations:

Monday: Flatiron District
Tuesday: Varick or Hudson St
Wednesday: Midtown East
Thursday: Financial District
Friday: Midtown West 50s
Saturday: Union Square Area

For exact locations and specials, follow them on twitter @VeganLunchTruck. or check out their Facebook page. They are still figuring out where their spots will be, so if you want to see the Snail near you, post good/reliable parking tips in the comments.
