Nuchas Special Offers 2 For $5, Sometimes

When they opened in November, Nuchas was offering empanadas for $3.00 each. So, in order to stay in the Midtown Lunch budget, you could get only three. Lately, you can get four! Nuchas has started offering two empanadas, two breakfast pastries or one of each for $5.00 as a daily special. Since the promotion seems to be working for them, it’s been making a somewhat regular appearance. While we can’t guarantee it’ll always be there, I did see it Monday and they were offering it again yesterday. But wait, there’s more.

They’ve also updated their menu, adding a few new kinds of empanadas to the mix. The curry version is filled with veggies, like zucchini, carrot and mushrooms. The crust was a little dry or well done for my taste, but the filling was flavorful and not too spicy. There was slightly less filling than other ones I’ve tried, like the short rib, which had been packed with meat every time I’ve had it.

Other new menu items include jambalaya (which is stuffed with shrimp and sausage) and a sweet apple and cranberry empanada (pictured above), which is basically a mini apple pie. Pulled pork has been “sold out” for the past few days. While I standby my original assessment that the standouts are the short rib and the spicy cheese, the new menu additions are a welcome change. I wonder what they’ll come up with next!

  • What an amazing deal. We can’t wait until we have a chance to head over and get some empanadas!

  • I haven’t had any problems with the price of Nuchas but the food is definitely on the small side! With that said, it’s well worth it because it’s so delicious!

  • I tried the “Argentine” empanada last week. It was OK. The empanada was kind of small and the crust was a little dry. I don’t think these make for much of a lunch, but it could be a snack…I guess.
