A Sneak Peek Inside Schnitzel & Things’ Storefront
We here in Midtown have been big fans of the Schnitzel & Things Truck ever since its first appearance on our streets way back in August ’09, so naturally we’ve been super excited for their brick-and-mortar store to open in the spot that used to house the original Kushi-Q (on 3rd btw 45th+46th). If God loves schnitzel, the shop will be open in time for our Monday lunches. And since Schnitzel & Things loves Midtown Lunch, I got a little sneak peek behind the brown paper yesterday!
The menu is going to be pretty much the same as the truck: sandwiches mostly at $8.50, platters at $9.95, with veal schnitzel costing you a bit more. For those of us with a sweet tooth, they’ve tapped The Treats Truck for dessert offerings. They’re hoping to acquire a liquor license in the future because what’s schnitzel without some beer?
The space itself is designed in two parts. When you first walk in, you’ll immediately be at the counter. This way those doing take out (i.e. most of us office drones) won’t have to bother the 12-person seating area towards the back.
Speaking of the office, you can now cater your next lunch meeting with schnitzel too! Yes, they will have a catering menu as well that includes the brand new (and my personal favorite) heroes by the foot ($225 for a 6 Footer).
Fingers crossed that this weekend’s planned soft opening goes well and we can get our schnitz on come Monday!
