PROFILE: Midtown Lunch'er "Felicia"

Every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different Midtown Lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Midtown. This week it’s Felicia, a logistics manager (wha?) who loves pizza but can’t stand chicken. (I think we might be able to get behind that…)

Name: Felicia

Age: 35

Occupation: Logistics Manager

Where in Midtown do you Work?: Garment Center

Favorite Kind of Food: Can you say cheese please, anything with cheese! I love pizza(I am a Brooklyn girl)

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Chicken, we had a disagreement years ago, so we broke up! Actually I got sick twice and never ate it again!

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Midtown: My new obsession are all these great new trucks! My favorite is Mexicue. The short Rib tacos are the best! They usually park near Bryant park once a week. A few weeks back I ventured over to the Schnitzel & Things truck on 46th and let me tell you! I see what the buzz is about! As far as favorite pizza places go nothing will ever beat Brooklyn pizza in my eyes but for midtown here are my picks, it is all about the mood. If you want a thin crust with lots of yummy combo’s for toppings I suggest Lazzara’s (on 38th btw. 6+7th). If you are in the mood for a cheesy salty inexpensive slice the $1.00 pizza at 2 brother’s on 8th avenue is the way to go!

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? We have two fan favorites here. At least once a week one of us has a Pick-a-Pita (on 8th Ave. btw. 39+40th) moment and the next thing you know we are all craving it and have to run down there for a falafel platter. If we aren’t eating falafel then we are heading to Ginger’s on 7th avenue (btw 37+38th) for some Szechuan dumplings.

Place(s) you discovered thanks to Midtown Lunch? Schnitzel & things I owe all to you guys, I also use the site when I have no idea what I want to eat, I pull it up and get ideas from whatever article is up on the home page.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? That would be Italy just so I can have a very long leisurely lunch where I can eat cheese, drink wine and people watch!

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Midtown Lunch readers? I bake cupcakes and I cater them to parties and events, I am just starting out and have become obsessed with trying cupcakes all over the city and comparing them to mine, so I would like to ask everyone, who do they think make’s the best cupcake’s around midtown?

Got an answer for Felicia? Put in the comments. And, as always, if you want to be next week’s Profiled: Midtown Lunch’er (or know somebody you’d like to nominate), email editor@midtownlunch.com.

  • Crumbs can be sickeningly sweet and dry, but I am partial to their salty chocolate caramel cupcakes. The frosting is dark chocolate with big bits of salt (I’d eat a salt lick if I could) and there’s oozing caramel in the middle. It’s so rich, I don’t know if I want to eat it or slap myself.

  • I like it when you look back at me over your shoulder.

  • So glad I asked that question, Some of these places I have never even heard of. Can’t wait to try them! Thank you

As for Magnolia and Crumbs! I think we can all agree they are not very good and are very over priced!

And yes for all those that do not already know, Robicelli is selling cupcakes at Lilly O’Brien’s. Little pricey buying from there but they are excellent cupcakes.
