Midtown Cleans Up at the NYC Wine & Food Fest
Another fun filled New York City Wine & Food Festival has come and gone, and we were lucky enough to attend the ‘Carts in the Parc’ event, held this past Sunday. Over 15 vendors were present, including Midtown mainstays, Biryani Cart, Eddie’s Pizza Truck, Jamaican Dutchy, Le Gamin, NYC Cravings, Schnitzel & Things, Sweet Streets, Wafels and Dinges, and the Treats Truck.
After the last plate of chicken over rice was scraped up, the last ice cream cone licked, and the last slice of pizza consumed, Biryani Cart and Big Gay Ice Cream Truck were declared as the winners by Time Out New York. The Biryani Cart win wasn’t a shocker, since Andrew Zimmern (who was the headline food celebrity at the event), the ML Staffers, and thousands of other Midtown Luncher’s are big fans of this cart. Big Gay Ice Cream Truck also has its legions of fans, though we refuse to get super excited about them on these pages until they park in Midtown (wink wink, nudge nudge).
Biriyani Cart wasn’t the only Midtown spot taking home honors at the New York Wine & Food Fest. Shake Shack won the Burger Bash on Saturday, besting Andrew Carmellini, Bobby Flay and Spike Mendelsohn’s entries. Additionally, Donatella Arpaia’s meatballs took home the gold in the Meatball Madness showdown. Never have I felt so proud to work and lunch in Midtown New York.
