You Decided: Certe’s Mexican Torta Gets Introduced Today
After turning the decision over to you guys, the response was unanimous: keep the Midtown Lunch Sandwich Challenge going, and bring on the torta! So, from Certe (on 55th btw. 5+6th) this morning: “Starting today we will offer our May Midtown Lunch Entry: Sirloin Mexican Torta. Sliced Roasted Sirloin of Beef with avocado, pico de gallo, queso blanco, fresh jalapeno and chipotle aioli on a soft Mexican torta. Also the Primavera (last month’s entry) will become one of our weekly specials starting next week. It will be available on Fridays (starting 5/15). And as always the Thanksgiving Dip is available on Thursdays.”

Now that’s a worthy-sounding sandwich for the challenge. *drools*
I hope the food porn for it goes up soon.

A good sandwich but this is no Thanksgiving Dip, it isn’t worthy of the challenge label… it pales next to its non-challenge menu neighbor the always awesome glazed sliced sirloin

I agree with Michael. nothing to write home about. It needed some sort of flavor kick that the chipotle aielo didnt provide. The Jalepeno added some zing to it but not enough to compensate for a rather just ok sandwich. Ill be returning to the Glazed Sirloin wrap as well.

We have a sandwich just like this one (and many others) ready for you now and 24 hours a day
And we won’t charge you 10 bucks for it.
Great sounding sandwich. I’m just sorry Certe is too far from my office to try it.
By the way, Zach — this morning’s AM NY has a half-page article on cheap eats in Midtown. Unfortunately, they gave no love to the east side so it has no use for me. But I think they mentioned 1 place that I haven’t seen reviewed here: Aura Thai or some such.
