Kati Rolls from Spice End

I was happy to hear Philly was getting a restaurant dedicated to kati rolls (Indian wraps) and biryani.  Though we have some kati roll options here, none  come even close to the Kati Roll shop in NYC. And Philly deserves the real deal! At Spice End on Chestnut street, there are a whole bunch of kati rolls to choose from, including vegetarian options.

Kati rolls are around $6 each. Any 2 are $11, so I went with that.

One roll is not quite enough for lunch and 2 is a bit too much, so possibly bring a friend and share 3?

The beef tikka roll had great flavor. The paratha itself had the right density, almost on the level of the Kati Roll Company of NYC. However, the meat was way too chewy-dissapointing.

Better, was the lamb kebab in Indian spices. The  flatbead encased  ground, savory lamb with a little bit of spice. Need more? A red fiery sauce comes on the side for you. Are you more sensitive to spice?  A cooling white sauce is also available.

I skipped the platters, for example the lamb over rice, which looked awesome on the website. Has anyone gotten to try them?

THE + (What somebody who likes this place would say)

  • Tasty meat or veggie “wraps” with a twist

THE – (What somebody who doesn’t like this place would say)

  • Chewy meat is not ok

Thanks for the heads up, I doubt I ever would have found out about this place on my own. Will definitely check it out soon. The lamb & rice on the website does indeed look great, almost more like a shawarma than anything else…
