PROFILE: Philly Luncher “Bradd”

As is customary at Philly Lunch, every Tuesday we turn over the site to a different lunch’er for his or her recommendations for the best lunch in Philadelphia. This week it’s Bradd, a blogger who I met recently at Supper.

Name: Bradd

Age: 32

Occupation: PR and independent food blogger at 22nd and Philly

Where in Philly do you Work?: Philadelphia and Main Line

Favorite Kind of Food: Italian. A good sauce is just about my favorite thing in the world.

Least Favorite Kind of Food: Fast food. Yes, it can be good and I am no food snob, but it goes against everything I believe in about eating. Food is a common denominator in every culture in the world and brings people together. Good food is about conversation, family, friends, sharing and good times. It is not meant to be a $1 marketed concoction and eaten on the go.

Favorite Place(s) to Eat Lunch in Philly:
Anything in Reading Terminal Market. It’s the perfect lunch spot. The cheesesteak-stuffed pretzels at one of the Amish stands are a hidden gem.

“Go-To” Lunch Place You and Your Coworkers Eat at Too Often? In the Ardmore area, McCloskey’s at 17 Cricket Ave is a staple and people rave about the mushroom soup. Al La Maison, a French bistro at 53 W. Lancaster Ave, has an excellent, albeit pricey short rib sandwich. Plate in Suburban Square is delicious for a more expensive lunch and Bella Italia at 12 E. Lancaster Ave across from Brownies has good pizza. Eagle Pizza at Wynnewood and Haverford has an excellent chicken parm sandwich.

Place you discovered thanks to Philly Lunch? I’m a pretty new reader, but you were dead-on with the recent French onion soup post. Was thinking the same thing on that rainy day and Caribou Café is the best spot for it. Reminded me to get back there on the next cool day before summer.

If you could work anywhere (just because of the lunch) where would it be and why? Small towns in Italy or Greece. Most Italian meals are simple yet so darn good. I love the freshness of the food, the pleasure taken in food and the importance to the culture.

Is there anything you’d like to ask the Philly Lunch readers? We are lacking in Sandwich Quest options. What are some of the best sandwiches in Philly? No cheesesteaks!

Bradd, You must check out my top 9 sandwich list! Now go do your homework (and link back to me when you check them out)
