Have you ever wondered why Chego isn’t open for lunch?  I have. And by “wondered why” I mean “complained that”.  In fact Roy Choi’s Asian rice bowl restaurant in Palms not serving lunch appeared as one of my very first gripes about lunching in L.A. Well, it only took two years but today at 11:30am Chego will officially start serving lunch.  Since they still are using Chego to prep all of the Kogi trucks, lunch is only available for take out.  But most of the entire dinner menu is available (with just a few exceptions), and you can order in person or through their new online ordering system.

11:02am – I’m hungry. Let’s take this new @eatchego lunch ordering system for a ride…

11:06am – Make sure you have AM Pickup selected or lunch times won’t come up when you check out.

11:13am – $2.50 charge for online ordering? That changes things… Plus the receipt I got had an “Estimated Total” that seemed to add another 20% on top. Hmmm. I guess ordering in person is the way to go, unless you’re super pressed for time. Although, for a Friday or Saturday night pick up run? I’m paying the $2.50!

11:20am – Alright… heading over now w/ receipt in hand. Beefy T here I come!

11:30am – I know where I’m going after lunch!

11:40am – Of course @ridingshotgunLA is working the line!

11:46am – Seating area has been turned into the new take out area

11:47am – Lunch order #1!!! Where’s CNN? It turns out that if you order online they package everything up for you and it’s ready to go when you get there. If you order there, it comes out unpackaged and you have to package it yourself. Plus- just an FYI if you do order online…the math on that “EST Total” is just a weird computer quirk that they’ll probably fix. My credit card was only charged $12.29

12:11pm – The Beefy T is my favorite thing @eatchego right now and I swear it tastes even better at lunchtime.

12:22pm – Spotted the first case of people trying to eat their #chegolunch standing at the self serve to go table. Guessing it won’t be the last.
