I don't think I've ever planned to meet up with Zach... I've run into him at a few events here and there but I can't recall exactly what. Haha I don't even remember exactly when the first time I met him was... sorry Zach. I know it was probably a press event though? and the most recent time was Blondie & Brownie's blogaversary party.
-
i once ran into him outside katiroll....i actually didnt even recoghnize him at first i recognized his baby...but then i recognized him...i think i caught him off guard though.
-
I was roaming around the Cafe Zaiya area and was waiting to cross the street. I saw Zack and his baby in the stroller. I meant to say hi and act like a crazy fan but he was on the phone.
-
I saw Zach near Madison Square park one time and I started chasing after him, screaming and excitedly waving my arms in the air like one of those ladies who are told to "Come on Down!!!" having been selected to be the next contestant on the Price is Right. He wisely ran across the street.
-
The further this topic goes, the more like crazed stalker fans we all sound.
-
I ran into him coming out of Certe a few weeks ago. It was after I was profiled. He was there with the baby. I thought it was him until I saw the kid. Then I was positive. I said hi. I think he was surprised by the whole thing.
-
He passed by me pushing the stroller on 47th street as I was walking to Biryani with some co-workers.
I didnt say anything because I just started working here 2 weeks ago and I didnt want to explain who he was and reveal to my new co-workers that I read a blog about food...at least not yet.
-
I don't know why, rob99 but that made me laugh.... I kind of picture you making eye contact but neither acknowledging....
-
This thread should be called "HarrySpotting"
-
I saw the Virgin Mary in my grilled cheese sandwich today, but then I blinked and it was actually Zach! Holy cow!
-
I walked back to the office from CVS and saw long lines at NYC Cravings. I didn't even realize they were parked there today since I brought lunch from home today and don't really feel like taiwanese fried chicken unless it's Friday.
Off to the side, Zach was interviewing on camera with some lady. Maybe he's promoting the Vendy's? Last week at Biryani and this week at NYC Cravings for the Rookie?
Will he actually going to hit up King of Falafel in Astoria? Nah, way too out of his Midtown range. -
So my question is, should I say Hi to him if I ever see him on the street?
-
Up to you.
And that's if you recognize him from all the other pedestrians waiting for their Street Meats. -
Cravings is going to do Financial District on Fridays ... so you're SOL :D
Well, every other Friday for now, until I manage to convince them by making so many people buy out their wares... they have no choice but to make Fridays PCOR day in the FiDi
-
@mkim- do not, i repeat, do not, say hello to zach. avoid all interactions if possible.
-
and what ever you do, never look a Zach in the eyes.
-
Are you talking Raiders of the Lost Ark here? Melt your face action...
Yvo, you guys can have NYC Cravings. I rarely crave their fried chicken anyway - once every two months, if even. If anything, Popeyes is still cheaper. :)
By all means, take Rickshaw too! -
Popeyes doesn't have the awesome pork sauce though. I'd eat my chair if it were doused in that sauce.
-
*ahem* I have a recipe for that sauce.
HAHAHAHAHAHA... I'm sorry... it's funny to me in light of the other thread... which I have to say and refer to in order for you to realize I'm teasing... sigh, my humor is too strange.
-
Oh, and also, SMO, it was a response to your comment about craving Cravings on Fridays. And I reference PCOR, pork chop over rice, not fried chicken.
-
If you really want the same food Adam, you could order it from the chinatown place that delivers and gorge. Just need a couple of co-workers to order with and they will deliver. Cheaper and you can get more bang for the buck. Why wait forever and let them tell you they sold out? Unless you're one of the dudes waiting there before or at Noon.
I'm a cheapskate so Popeye's would be the better option. Plus I don't feel like I'm missing out on the minced pork and pickled mustards greens sauce. You could make that at home yourself and use less salt (Well, to your own tasting).
-
Nice. Yvo has the recipe too? Excellent.
You can probably do the Pork Chop too then. Why even buy it?I thought the PCOR was your codeNAME for their Porken. Opps. Oh well. Fried Chicken FTW!!!
But yea, the only times I ever bought Cravings were on Fridays and when I needed variety from the usual offerings. Plus it was parked a block from my office. Otherwise, I would NOT journey to their truck. -
SMOC? Yvo, there is no C in my handle. Or maybe you're trying to call me a smuck? Whatever though.
-
No... typo... I didn't look at your handle to grab the letters... whoops. SMO isn't much better though lol
-
It really isn't. Oh well. I'll live. Haha.
To get back on track with the topic - I didn't say hello to Zach nor did I look into his eyes to avoid any face melting.
Should I have yelled something at him? Like a HUGE Midtown Lunch Rules! Not like he would've known who I am anyway. Hmmmm. Maybe if I said, Cafe Cello's Pork sucks! Haha.
-
If I ever run into Z, I'm going to run over and see how fast he moves when I try to pick Harry up.
(I'm just kidding. If I had kids, and someone ran over towards me and tried to touch my kid, they'd be on the floor so fast they would think we just had an earthquake.)
-
Definitely have not seen Harry in person being strollered by Zach. I think more people, especially women, want to see his kid with him more than just Zach alone. Especially with NO more Friday pictures going on.
-
I recognized this baby chilling in a stroller by the Dutchy a few weeks ago and stopped to really ask myself how I was familiar with a strange baby, and then saw the father talking to the blunted guy from Dutchy and it made sense.
-
I went to Kim's Aunt cart for fish, then headed back to my office on 49th. Fortunately for me, the green light was going west, and not north, otherwise I wouldn't have spotted Zach in front of the Biryani Cart. I got to see Harry! Though he was asleep :( True, sleeping babies are cuter, but not as much fun :)
-
This is really creepy... but I am in SF for the Foodbuzz fest and was driving to get ice cream REALLY FAR from where the fest is (and it hadn't started yet) and I saw Z walking with a woman I think I recognized from pics as his wife... I felt like such a slimy stalker so I drove away really fast without saying hi... it was that or jump the curb in front of him to scare him and say hi... I think I made the right choice.
-
you went to SF just to go to the foodbuzz fest? wow.... just wow....
-
If you want to be taken seriously at anything you do, you have to take it seriously. Also, I head out to SF at least once a year, and this was my trip for the year.
You DO realize that though I like talking about what I eat... I make money doing so, right?
Anyway it was a lot of fun and I would be really mad right now if I'd missed it :)

What random (not preplanned meetup) have you run into Zach?
For some reason (my next topic post), I went to the Big Apple BBQ today. I was on the "fast pass" line for Bob Gibson's (pulled pork) as Zach passed me to get stuff for his family. (My first time meeting him).
What's your ZachSpotting story?
