Was up in the air about what I'd be doing for lunch on Friday. I think I know now. How was the line?

When I went, it was one dude manning the whole truck. No serious line but gotta be patient since it was only one guy.
The truck was parked on the same side where you see Bombay Bistro and the Asian Fusion place are but lil further up closer to 3rd Ave.

Just finished a combo platter - this truck is a godsend for those of us in the area without enough time to travel across town on their lunch hour. Delicious meat, interesting rice and love the olives and jalapenos in the salad. There were about 10 people in line, but it was moving pretty well (there were 2 guys in the truck).

This truck is MAD convenient and prices are SOLID. $5 for any rice, $3 for any pita.
I'm eating the Lamb on pita (gyro) right now. The line was only 3-5 deep when I went.
The other dude didn't do anything though. It's the same guy I saw on Monday doing everything.Excellent value for a good pita!! Definitely worth going again when I need a quick bite. I had him drop extra hot sauce in mine. Good meat and taste.
Another dude in front of me asked if they had hummus (for falafel I presume). The guy said that there have been people asking for it. He might have tahini next week. Good to know. I never had the falafel at XPL before. Anyone out there have theirs?
I don't see the falafel staying at $3 if he started adding hummus, plus the XPL truck is geared towards more of the chicken-lamb folks imo. On a unrelated note, Crisp has extended their $5 pita sandwiches from 3pm-close until 12/31/2009. I received the coupon in their email today.I'm having a very lamb-oriented week. XPL Combo with rice on Monday, Gyro Wrap at Zeytinz (over-priced turkish deli near Bryant Park - only went for lunch with friends) and now XPL Gyro Pita today. MmMmMm. Gyro FTW!

I just passed by a new XPL full-loaded truck (kitchen sink in it) today near my office. I was going to hit up 53/6th for lunch but decided to try this truck out since I never seen it before. Is this the a new XPL, from downtown/ midtown or are they finally expanding? I've had the other two XPLs near me before. My fav is still the one on 48th and Park. The one on 3rd Ave was okay plus no longer affiliated with Park Ave. anyway.
Food was as good as Park Ave. Good rice and delicious meats. Standard sauces and even had him add the green chutney to my platter. The salad was different! It had green peppers, olives and jalapenos! No slice of pita though. Oh well. But can of soda comes with it unlike Park where it's an extra dollar. Good combo + can of soda for $5 and super-convenient to me.
