Worst sandwich I've ever had.

mkim1206

It's raining super bad now so I ended up grabbing a chicken baguette sandwich from Pret a Manger. It's the worst sandwich i've ever had. Disgusting. Bread is dry and stale tasting which is interesting because they are supposely known for feshly made stuff.
There is no taste!! i don't know how they survive..or did i just get a wrong item.
i know i am not going back ever no matter how bad the weather is outside.

I usually don't eat Pret too often. When I do, it's on Fridays. Do AU Bon Pain or Subway's instead. Not much improvement though...

I like their chicken mozzarella baguettes but they can be tough to chew through. I have cut my lips on them but then again, I like the hard-type breads. If anything, they're really stingy on the fillings.

i thought they just gave those away at the end of the day to City Harvest. that sucks, bet it was overpriced too...

subway smells bad. unless u're going to an open one like in a food court. i hate getting that cheese smell on my work clothes.

the only reason to go to pret is for their chocolate chip cookie.

Oohh the rainy day compromise. For me it was a $9 turkey sandwich from Dean & Deluca. Couple pieces of turkey, 2 pieces of bacon on whole wheat bread. oh and a piece of lettuce. My worse by far was a cheesesteak from Au Bon Pain.

  8. Chili's 2 Go prepackaged sandwich from O'Hare. If I must get prepackaged food at O'Hare, I stick with my man Puck.

Worst sandwich I ever had was from Cosi, or maybe it was Europa (was the europa on 46th previously a cosi?)

Either way, I avoid those places.

The sandwich was literally a single slice of ham (if I was lucky it was 2oz), some brie (also, probably about 2oz), a little fancy lettuce (definitely not iceberg; bib/boston; romaine), on something like focaccia. There was no way anything was special enough about the sandwich to cost $7 (which was a lot of money back in 98...)

I recently had a sandwich from pan quotidien (I'm not going to look up the proper name). It was a little bit better meat wise, and the bread was rustic (very crunch, but not sure if thats just because it was stale). Also expensive and nothing remarkable. I won't be going back there either. There are too many good delis to get a sandwich from.

People who eat at these places because they think it's good are fooling themselves.

Pax and Carve (the deli on 46th & 8th ave) are tied for the worst for me. My hatred for Carve is compounded by the fact that:
    1. It's really expensive for a sandwich
    2. In a direct contradiction to their name, they don't carve their deli meat to order.

  11. Chicken & bacon from Pret is decent, but as previous posters have said, you could do better for the price.

    no walgreen sandwiches?

i suffered through pax, A.B.P., and their ilk for the first 18 months of my existence as a corporate slave (I'm a slow learner). Now I only hit pax if I want a salad and the weather is so bad that I don't feel like walking 2 blocks to a better place (like today).

As for Pret, I would recommend their soft bread (square) sandwiches. They actually taste pretty good, even if their way overpriced. Egg salad and chicken and bacon ones come to mind. Stay away from their fish though--my boss got very sick on an order of salmon sushi.
