Chinatown sells live eels. Pretty much any Asian fish market has it. They can gut and skin the whole thing for you.

yeah.. i figured it would be in chinatown...
Do you happen to know a specific location or is it just anywhere?
thanks!

There's also a pet store on 38 between 2nd and 3rd that sells salt water fish, including eels most times. If you feel like fattening one up....

Hong Kong Supermarket - corner of Elizabeth and Hester. Or better yet - there's a narrow butcher/fish monger/supermarket/prepared foods place that goes all the way through the block from west to eat between Elizabeth and Mott (about half way betwen Grand and Hester). You can buy Aligator legs there (on full display in the middle of the place with skin and all). They have pretty much everything you could imagine and everything is crazy cheap.

Any of the Chinatowns in Queens, Brooklyn, and/or Manhattan have plenty of live eels.

where can i find some eel? not from a restaurant.. I mean.. i want to buy an eel and grill it at home.. not the pre-packaged ones either... Ideally I would like a place where they have the eel, and they cut it and gut it for me... so I can take it home and marinate it and prepare it myself...
anyone? Can you even find this in chinatown?
