omg - where do i start:
picky on street meat - my go to place is shendy's - have tried a bunch of others, but nothing ever matches uphot dogs - i like nothing else except for gray's papaya (or papaya dog)... crif dogs may be the one exception to this rule
steak - you can count on one hand how many times i've been completely satisfied with my steak... even the same dish in the same place has been satisfying once, but never again.
pastrami - i'm prob not the only one on this, but it's either carnegie or katz or i'm not eating it

I'm really picky about price. I'll pay a lot but if it isn't what I deem to be worthy of the price, then I'll bitch to high heaven "Yeah, it was good, but was it worth $10 [for a small whatever]? NO"
A lot of things taste good to me but not much tastes simply amazing. I don't know. I guess I'm weird. -
I'm with Yvo, and one place I have that problem with is Fatty Crab, while the food is good, it just seems so overpriced to me. I'll go to places that cost more but I find it so difficult to return to Fatty Crab. It's odd because I actually like the food...

dubs, My friend said the samething about Fatty Crab.
She said the food was pretty good but she doesn't think she will return to the restaurant. -
Oh guys, don't talk shit about Fatty Crab, Zach gets really mad when you do that. ;)
-
oops, sorry, didn't know Fatty crab served faked shrimps too. lol
-
Mind you I've been to Fatty Crab quite a bit because my gf loves the place, and she loves the chili crab which I think is the most overpriced thing on the menu. It annoys me that everytime I return the place seems more expensive. A long time ago they gave you extra toast to soak up the chili sauce, they won't even do that now. It's freaking toast.

I actually agree, Fatty Crab has gotten really expensive. I feel like it was much cheaper when I first went 4 years ago.
Yvo's just making fun of me because I took her to task in the comments of her blog for her terrible ordering the first time she went to Fatty Crab. She wrote how she was offended that the server asked if they needed the menu explained, you know the old- "Have you been here before" line. But then proceeded to just order a single "entree" at a restaurant that's meant to be attacked family style. (You went with 3 other people, and between the four of you only tried 2 dishes!!! You can't base a negative "review" on that!)
If I went to Shake Shack, ate a hot dog, made fun of the guy behind the counter for trying to explain to me that they were known for their hamburgers, and then bashed the place on my blog, you would call me an idiot! (And rightfully so.)
-
I went with 4 other people and I was irate about how they treated us! And you say that like I ordered something else and stared blankly at the guy for telling us the crab was what they were known for. He actually didn't explain to us that it was best ordered family style, nor that the dishes would come out as they were ready, until after we'd ordered and before we could say anything he left.
Aaaaaand, in all fairness, I went back a year later and followed your rules.
For reference's sake (hope you don't mind, Zach);
http://feistyfoodie.blogspot.com/2007/03/fatty-crab.html the first visit (and Zach's rules for eating at Fatty Crab in the comments)And the second visit: http://feistyfoodie.blogspot.com/2008/07/fatty-crab-again.html which I upgraded the place from "NEVER go here"
***I admit in the first visit, I unfairly compared the place to Chinatown places.
:P

I frown upon sandwiches that dont come w/ pickles. It seems that people who dont like them have ruined it for us normal people. I always have to ask for them. The current crop of flavorless pizza is getting on my nerves. Years ago I never had to salt my slices.
-
vdubjb..yeah..also pizza that does not have good crust.
-
i'm very picky about jerk chicken. if it's not super full in flavor and dishing a WALLOP (nom scotch bonnet), i'll bitch all the way to management. case in point: jerk chicken burrito at Blockheads. 11 bucks to boot. :(
i know. jerk chicken at a tex-mex joint. lesson learned
-
and soggy fries just flat out piss me off

Oh, I hate terrible service. The food can be quite good or even great but to get me to go back after being treated extremely poorly (and nothing being done about it) would be really incredibly difficult. The only exception is when the food is super super cheap (like when I go to many dive Asian places and they kind of grunt at you or drop dishes on your table like "whatever!" ignore you - that doesn't bother me as much if I paid a lot)... but I think to a certain extent you kind of expect that at those places.
Oh! I guess this ties into service but if a waiter sneers at me for choosing tap water, ...
Back to food related: back when I drank soda - if you don't tell me you're a Pepsi establishment and serve me Sierra Mist because YOU think it's the same as Sprite, I will be incredibly unhappy. They don't taste the same. I'd have accepted 7up instead of Sprite, but I still expect to be told beforehand so I can make the choice to not drink it.
I don't eat much desserts, not being a sweets kind of person, but tiramisu and panna cotta are my favorites. Tiramisu that isn't good annoys me, and panna cotta even more so cuz I know how to make it and incredibly well, so why can't the restaurant?

I enjoy food and I can eat almost anything but it doesn't mean that I don't have a standard. I get very very mad when my sandwich is made with bad bread (though according to my girl friend, there is no such thing as bad bread.lol). I also get very mad when a restaurant serves bad french fries.
