"Weng's itself is nothing special - your standard Chinese takeout joint"

I'm surprised no one on this site has ever mentioned Weng's Palace on 40th street, just off 8th ave. At first I thought it might be that it's considered out of bounds since it's technically between 8th and 9th, but if places like Rudy's and Two Boots share space on this site, that can't be the reason.
Weng's itself is nothing special - your standard Chinese takeout joint. The service? Indifferent, possibly even rude. The ambience? The same as what you might find in your average broom closet.
HOWEVER, the prices are reasonable, the food quality is consistent, and the portions are enormous - all deciding factors for me. Considering the short wait, prices, and proximity to my office, I find myself at Weng's several times a week.
In short - a Palace it ain't. But you could do worse.
