Valducci's Pizza Truck in midtown

Harry

I was on my way to lunch today when I found a new truck. It's Valducci's Pizza truck. It was on the corner of Park and 52nd. They serve over-sized sicilian style slices. I got the Meatball-Ricotta and the Sausage. They use parmesan instead of mozzarella. The slices are very heavy partly due to the overload of sauce on the slices. The slices were $5 which seems expensive, but these are pretty big and heavy slices (though not due to toppings).

I enjoyed the slices. They were very messy because of the extra sauce and no cheese. The sauce tasted good and the crust was appropriately crunchy. This place is definitely worth trying.

Photo visual evidence is on the way.

I've had Valducci's, including the meatball-ricotta slice. They're very tasty and well made. However, I'm not certain how anyone could perceive their slices as "oversized". In my opinion, for $5 a slice, they are decidedly undersized. They're not tiny, but for five bucks a slice (out of a truck with no amenities) they are a bit of a ripoff. Very tasty, but a bit of a ripoff.

I've had the regular slice and yellow pepper slice...I think they were $3/$4. Both good, with the yellow pepper being excellent. But they are terrible at taking orders, completely botched it both times even though there was barely a line. Keeps me from going back.

  3. I've had their regular slices many times. I like its flavor. The crust is inconsistent - sometimes it's tough and brittle, and sometimes it's chewy.

I wanted to try the vodka slice last week, but they were out, so I tried a meatball-ricotta ($1 more than regular slice). I liked it better than the original. The meatball is more crumbly sausage looking rather than sliced balls.

The staff in the truck is inept. Even though there is maybe 2 people at most in line or waiting, there seems to always be an issue with either forgetting a slice or not giving back the proper change.

They still tout their pizzaria on Staten Island, but it was sold to new owners at some point. The truck is not related to the storefront other than the name.

Have to agree with Mas Tortas and Joer. Been 3 times and the slices were very tasty (the yellow pepper is unique and amazing), but the service is truly awful. As others mentioned with only one or two people in line, the guy can't keep track of what you ordered or how much money you owe or are owed in change. Its very frustrating and a shame, cause the slices are good.
