upper east side recs

So it's been a couple of months since i moved to the upper east side.. i live in the 90's and Lex.. I've found one or two places that are good / decent.. but I'm struggling to find more food options in the immediate vicinity. Every sushi place i get delivery from is horrible... one decent thai place... and a mexican place w/ decent tacos (but everything else is horrible).. and one good place for burgers..

anyway.. i want to order vietnamese, pizza, sushi, bbq and.. well.. anything else.. but haven't had anything good yet.. if you guys happen to know anything in the area that's good.. any recs would be appreciated.

  2. @Toasted: I think hunandelight is actually out of my delivery range..

Totonno's is between 80 and 81. Definitely hit up Heidelberg as well.

I believe it's called Delizia 92, on 92nd/2nd, and they do a good delivery pie. Plus, they're getting hurt by the subway construction, so I'd think they're a worthy cause. I also got a bunch of delivery from Arthur's on 88 and York when I lived there because he has a gas oven that fed the UES masses after the blackout, when we didn't get power till late afternoon the next day.

The Mexican place -- Fresca Tortilla? -- at 90 and 2nd is actually pretty good, even if it isn't "real" Mexican or even run by Mexicans. But it's cheap, and they do chorizo and Mexican rice very well.

Cafe d'Alsace is actually not too expensive if you go easy on the drinking, and the food is damn good. Definitely not Midtown Lunch/Dinner pricing though.

Err... I'm not much help for regular food, but I've had a damn good cupcake from Little Red Hen bakery. 84-86th st but I think closer to 2nd ave?

Little Red Hen Bakery is next door to Schaller & Weber and Heidelberg, on 2nd Ave between 85 and 86.

Which of course brings up: sushiburger should be visiting S&W early and often and cooking at home.

  7. Hmmm.. i will definitely check it out... although looking at what's available at S&W.. it seems like I can just do sandwiches, no?

Tenzan, the BEST SUSHI EVER. Cafe D'Alsace(88th and 2nd), amazing french. Two Little Red Hens (86th and 2nd), THE BEST RED VELVET CUPCAKES EVER! I miss livng in the UES... :( Pio Pio, cheap yummy chicken. Candle 79, great vegan food. Blondies, great wings.
